I live with gastroparesis, asthma, and chronic back pain, and I’ve worked hard to stay employed and housed despite ongoing health challenges. Recently, an unexpected illness caused me to miss two weeks of work. Shortly after, the contract I was working under was not renewed. While I am technically still employed by the company, there is currently no active contract or income, and I am actively seeking new work. Because of severe back pain and medical limitations, I am unable to take on physically demanding jobs, which makes finding immediate replacement work more difficult. I am applying for remote and disability-appropriate positions as well as emergency assistance, but those processes take time.
Right now, I am facing an urgent rent shortfall and the risk of losing my housing. I’m asking for help to cover part of my rent so I can stay housed while I secure income and assistance. Even small donations and sharing this fundraiser truly help and add up. I don’t want to be homeless, and I don’t want my three cats, who depend entirely on me, to be homeless either.
